The series debuted in 2010 and is a continuation of the highly regarded USF2000 series which ran from 1990 through 2006, launching the careers of many of today’s top drivers. Sanctioned by INDYCAR, the series is the first official step on the Mazda Road to Indy – a clearly defined path to reach the top echelons of the sport. In addition to providing a vital training ground for rising stars, the series champion will earn a scholarship package from Mazda to advance to the Pro Mazda Championship Presented by Cooper Tires, the next step on the ladder system.
Lucas will be driving for the John Cummiskey Racing team. Cummiskey leads an experienced crew and provides a professional race team environment to young drivers looking to expand their career. JCR is focused on providing top quality equipment and a winning atmosphere. In addition, JCR offers a full service preparation/restoration shop for any type of racecar. JCR services include full chassis, suspension, engine, and transmission preparation/restoration.

BROWNSBURG, Ind. – John Cummiskey Racing is pleased to announce that Lucas Kohl will drive their number 34 (Bellko Trading) car for the 2016 Cooper Tires USF2000 Championship Powered by Mazda.
In 2015, Kohl competed in karting in his native Brazil and won a state Super Kart championship before racing in the National Brazilian Karting Championship. Kohl won the 2014 Formula Junior championship winning eight out of 16 races.
“I’m very excited to work with John Cummiskey Racing,” said Kohl. “He is well known for his dedication to the team and attention to every detail. The team has Louis D’Agostino, a very dedicated and smart engineer who has helped many youngsters in their careers. Roberto Moreno, an experienced F1 and IndyCar driver, will also be helping me to catch up with the knowledge that I will need in my first year of racing in the U.S. I’m confident that together we will strive to perform at the top level and achieve good results in this very competitive championship. I want to thank the team for the chance to race with them on the Mazda Road to Indy.”
“I’m really looking forward to having Lucas on the team,” said Cummiskey. “We had a really good test with Lucas last season and we’re looking forward to seeing him perform in the 34 JCR entry. With how competitive karting is in Brazil, it is great to have a champion join our team and the Mazda Road to Indy.”
The 2016 USF2000 season kicks off with the Grand Prix of St. Petersburg on the Streets of St. Petersburg, Florida during the weekend of March 11th through 13th.
